I am an honorary member of the Irgang family. I have loved these people since I first met them through their artistically gifted daughter Lisa, back in the 1970's when we were both going to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

Artist Statement

I am a full-time studio artist, creating work in ceramics, paint, pastel and colored pencil on clay, canvas and paper. My formal education took place at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Temple University Tyler School of Art. I studied Russian art and culture independently in St. Petersburg, Russia, during the Soviet era.

My artwork reflects day-to-day living, education, and experiences at home and abroad. Aesthetic influences range from Russian fine art and folk art, Persian and Indian Miniature painting, Egyptian tomb frescos, ancient Japanese pottery, Bauhaus theory and design, abstract expressionism and Mid-Century Modern design elements drawn from the architecture and art of the 20th century and beyond.

Recent work, in the midst of this global pandemic, expresses the trauma, isolation, and loss of the past year, while embracing hope for better days and a joyful rediscovery of purpose where I have always found it - in my studio!
